“…14 In a few cases of HPS/aBS, hearing loss has been reported. 15 This might be related to a high incidence of sensorineural deafness (SND) in preterm infants (up to 10% 16,17 ), because HPS/aBS patients are born prematurely. However, Landau et al 18 described an association of "infantile Bartter syndrome" with SND in an inbred Bedouin kindred with at least 5 affected individuals.…”

“…Roberts et al (1982) also found no correlation between ABR test results and a number of risk factors, including intraventricular hemorrhage, hyaline membrane disease, asphyxia, hyperbilirubinemia, or aminoglycoside therapy. Cox, Hack, and Metz (1981) compared unselected preterm infants (32-40 weeks postconceptional age) with those scoring low (below 48) on the Hobel High Risk Screening Scales (Hobel, Hyvarinen, Okada, & Oh, 1973). No ABR differences could be attributed to perinatal, neonatal, or maternal conditions.…”

“…Several studies have reported normative values for neonates (5,6,II ,15,22,25,28,45,47). The general purpose has been to determine what the expected responses are in order that abnormal or atypical findings become apparent.…”

“…The current literature pertinent to ABR testing of neonates and NICU populations is discussed and from several aspects (5)(6)(7)II,12,17,20,25,34,36,47 (27), Marshall et al (29), Hecox and Cone (21), Hecox et al (20) , Cox et al (8), and Roberts et al (35). ABR as a screening tool has been reported by Homing (24), Crowell et al (9), Hecox et al (20), and Salamy et al (37), while Simmons (43) and Galambos et al (17) have compared ABR with Crib-O-Gram testing.…”
