“…Now, arguably, the best chess player is a hybrid of human intuition and nonhuman computation (e.g., Litt, 2020). Returning to the main thrust of this essay, recent research examines how negative attitudes toward AI can counteract the potentially positive impact of using AI in the context of brainstorming (Yu-Han & Chun-Ching, 2023), explores the potential of integrating human and AI idea generation in the context of brainstorming (Lavrič & Škraba, 2023), and demonstrates, in experimental research, how, using the same intervention script, "brainstorming with a [perceived] chatbot led participants to produce more ideas, with more diversity than brainstorming with an alleged human being" (Wieland et al, 2022: 1). Similarly, there is preliminary work on the use of AI in scenario planning, for example, using AI to gather risk drivers and produce alternatives futures (Sohrabi et al, 2018), research demonstrating the limited ability to AI to differentiate between multiple time horizons (Kozachek, 2023), the (in)ability of AI to predict recent world events (Jungwirth & Haluza, 2023), and, closest to the aims of this chapter, preliminary reflections on the use of AI in the facilitation of scenario planning workshops (Spaniol & Rowland, 2023).…”
