Breast diagnosis: Concordance analysis between the BI-RADS classification and Tsukuba sonoelastography score

Abstract: Aims.To establish the correlations between the ultrasound (US) BI-RADS classification and Tsukuba elastography score when assessing breast lesions. “…The general characteristics of mammary gland masses were examined by routine ultrasound for size, shape, location, boundary, aspect ratio, echo, and whether or not there was attenuation and calcifications. RTE-graded elastic images were judged according to the Tsukuba Elasticity Score, [14] as follows: 1 point, the entire mases was green, 2 points, the masses were a mosaic of green and blue, 3 points, the peripheral areas of the masses were green and the center was blue, 4 points, the entire mass was blue, and 5 points, both the mass and the surrounding tissue were blue. The elasticity images were diagnosed as benign with a score of 1-3 points and malignant with a score of 4-5 points.…”

Regarding elasticity, Fujifilm established standards by using breast tissue as a sample [14].
