Breast Infections With Mycobacterium goodii After Reduction Mammaplasty

Abstract: Mycobacterium goodii was identified in 1999 as a rapidly growing nontuberculous mycobacteria species related to the Mycobacterium smegmatis group isolated from human wound infections. Infection with this organism is exceptionally rare after breast surgery in the absence of a prosthetic implant.The authors present a case of breast infections with M. goodii after a reduction mammaplasty.
