The problems with breast milk production can be influenced by nutrition factors during pregnancy and during breastfeeding, that is will be impact on the flow breast milk. Management to irregular milk production can be use pharmacologicalyl and non-pharmalogically. One of pharmacological therapy to help breast milk production by using plants that can be stimulate breast milk production. Pumpkin leave contain several important components that is protein, carbohydrates, phisphorus, calcium, iron, vitamin A, itamin B, vitamin C. Apart from pumpkin leaves, breastfeeding mothers can be consume long bean or lembayung leaves because have a saponins and polyphenols which can incease prolactin levels. Lembayung leaves have a contain several substances that is: calories, protein, carbohydrtaes, fat, phosphorus, iron, vitamin A, vitamin B and vitamin C. This study to compare the effectiveness of pumpkin leaves and lavender leaves on the smoothness of milk production in mothers 3-4 days postpartum. The novelty in this study is to find out which plants are more effective in influencing the smooth release of breast milk. The mthode used was quasi-experimental with a one group pretest-posttest research design. Analysis data used the Man-Whitney test to determine the comparison after treatment between the two groups regarding the smooth flow of breast milk. The results of the research that is breast milk flow was smooth with giving pumpin leaves and lembayung leaves with a mean ±SD 10,22±0,97 dan 26,78±1.12 (p=0,001). treatment with giving lembayung levaes has a greater effect on the smooth production of breast milk in postpartum 3-4 day mothers compared to giving pumpkin leaves Keywords: Pumpkin Leaves, Lembayung Leaves, Expenditure of Breast Milk ABSTRAK Permasalahan produksi ASI dapat di pengaruhi oleh faktor nutrisi sejak saat kehamilan dan saat menyusui, sehingga akan berdampak pada ketidaklancaran pengeluaran ASI. Penatalaksanaan ketidaklancaran pengeluaran ASI dapat dilakukan secara farmakologis dan non-farmakologis (Nurakilah et al., 2019). Salah satu terapi non-farmakologis yang dapat dilakukan untuk memperlancar pengeluaran ASI adalah dengan memanfaatkan tanaman yang dapat merangsang pengeluaran ASI. Daun labu kuning mengandung beberapa komponen penting yaitu: protein, karbohidrat, fosfor, kalsium, zat besi, vitamin A, vitamin B, vitamin C (Erwiyani et al., 2022). Selain daun labu kuning, ibu menyusui dapat mengkonsumsi daun kacang panjang atau lembayung yang dapat memperlancar ASI dikarenakan memiliki kandungan saponin dan polifenol yang dapat meningkatkan kadar prolactin. Daun lembayung memiliki beberapa kandingan zat yaitu: kalori, protein, karbohidrat, lemak, fosfor, zat besi, vitamin A, vitamin B, vitamin C (Djama, 2018). Penelitian ini untuk mengetahui perbandingan efektivitas daun labu kuning dan daun lembayung terhadap kelancaran pengeluaran ASI pada ibu 3-4 hari postpartum. Kebaharuan pada penelitian ini untuk mengetahui tanaman mana yang lebih efektif dalam mempengaruhi kelancaran pengeluaran ASI. Metode yang digunakan quasi eksperimen dengan rancangan penelitian one group pretest- postest. Analisis data menggunakan Uji Man-Whitney untuk mengetahui perbandingan sesudah perlakuan kedua kelompok terhadap kelancaran pengeluaran ASI. Hasil penelitian menunjukan kelancaran pengeluaran ASI dengan pemberian daun labu kuning dan daun lembayung nilai rerata±SD 10,22±0,97 dan 26,78±1.12 (p= 0,001). Pemberian daun lembayung lebih berpengaruh terhadap kelancaran pengeluaran ASI pada ibu 3–4 pospartum dibanding dengan pemberian sayur daun labu kuning. Background Early initiation of breastfeeding (EIBF) is a starting point that lays the foundation for breastfeeding and bonding between mother and baby. Meanwhile, working mothers are one of the vulnerable groups for the success of exclusive breastfeeding (EBF). The study analyzed the role of EIBF on EBF among Indonesian working mothers. Methods The cross-sectional study examined secondary data from the 2021 Indonesian National Nutritional Status Survey. The study analyzed 4,003 respondents. We examined EBF practice as an outcome variable and EIBF as an exposure variable. We included nine control variables (residence, maternal age, marital, education, prenatal classes, wealth, infant age, sex, and birth weight). All variables were assessed by questionnaire. The study employed a binary logistic regression test in the last stage. Results The result showed that the proportion of EBF among working mothers in Indonesia in 2021 was 51.9%. Based on EIBF, Indonesian working mothers with EIBF were 2.053 times more likely than those without to perform EBF (p < 0.001; AOR 2.053; 95% CI 2.028–2.077). Moreover, the study also found control variables related to EBF in Indonesia: residence, maternal age, marital, education, prenatal classes, wealth, infant age, sex, and birth weight. Conclusion The study concluded that EIBF was related to EBF. Indonesian working mothers with EIBF were two times more likely than those without to perform EBF. The government needs to release policies that strengthen the occurrence of EIBF in working mothers to increase EBF coverage.

Validation of a Questionnaire on Knowledge and Barriers of Breast Milk Expression among Mothers of Premature Infants

This study aimed to develop and validate a Malay language questionnaire to assess mothers' knowledge in providing breast milk for premature infants, and barriers to breast milk expression while the infants are in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). Two tertiary hospitals in Kelantan, Malaysia participated in this cross-sectional study. Relevant items of knowledge and barriers were identified through a literature search, clinical observations, and expert opinion. Ten breastfeeding experts validated the content of the knowledge and barriers to breast milk expression questionnaire.The effectiveness of the questionnaires was tested for face validity among ten mothers, followed by reliability tests comprising 50 mothers who gave birth prematurely. The 20 knowledge items and 16 barrier items have an Item-level Content Validity Index (I-CVI) of 0.99, indicating good relevance of the knowledge and barrier items. The knowledge and barrier questionnaires had Item-level Face Validity Indexes (I-FVIs) of 1.00 and 0.99, respectively, suggesting clear and comprehensible items. The questionnaires obtained a Cronbach alpha score of 0.726 for knowledge and 0.736 for barriers, showing that they are reliable tools for assessing knowledge and breast milk expression barriers. The validity and reliability of the newly developed Malay version of the questionnaire have been established for evaluating breastfeeding knowledge and barriers to expressing breast milk among mothers with premature infants.
