Abstract-Square slot antennas with modified edges for broadband circular polarization are presented. Slots with only stubs or notches are studied and it is found that the axial ratio (AR) bandwidth is quite sensitive to the perturbations of the stubs and notches. To further enhance the AR bandwidth, slot antennas with combination of stubs and notches are proposed and wide 3-dB AR bandwidth of 15.5% (2.45-2.86 GHz) is obtained. By placing a conducting reflector at the rear of the slot, another modified square slot antenna is designed for practical applications, which achieves a 3-dB AR bandwidth of 6.5% (2.38-2.54 GHz) and peak gain of 8.7 dBic. Agreement between simulated and measured results is satisfactory.

Abstract-This paper presents a two-port antenna including a receiving port and a transmitting one in the same volume. These two antennas are physically integrated and electrically isolated. The receiving antenna is a linearly polarized narrowband slot for energy harvesting, whereas the transmitting one is a circularlypolarized ultrawideband (UWB) quasi-spiral for signal radiation. The measurement results show that, the slot resonates at 5.8 GHz, and the quasi-spiral has a 10-dB return loss bandwidth of 2.85-5.16 GHz and a 3-dB axial-ratio bandwidth of 3.05-4.43 GHz. The electrical isolation between these two antennas is more than 20 dB covering 1-8 GHz. This two-port antenna is a good candidate for wireless powered UWB-RFID tags.

Abstract-A CPW-fed slot antenna for achieving dual-band dualsense circular polarization is introduced. The dual-band circularly polarized operations are generated by the slots loaded in the two opposite corners and the halberd-shaped strip connected at the end of the signal line of the CPW. The left-hand and right-hand circularly polarized performances can be achieved simultaneously for the lower and the upper band, respectively. The measured impedance bandwidth for 10-dB return loss at 2.5 and 3.5 GHz operating bands can be up to 1100 MHz and 260 MHz, respectively. The measured 3-dB axial ratio bandwidths are 30.8% for lower band (LHCP) and 3.1% for upper band (RHCP), which are completely inside their respective impedance bands. The designed antenna has a simple uniplanar structure and occupies a compact size of 40 × 40 mm 2 , including the finite ground CPW feeding mechanism. Moreover, the antenna gain variations across the two operating bands are less than 1 dB.
