Broadband CPW-Fed Circularly Polarized Antenna With an Irregular Slot for 2.45 GHZ Rfid Reader

Abstract: Abstract-A coplanar waveguide-fed slot antenna with wideband circular polarization characteristic is presented. The proposed antenna consists of an irregular slot with a stair-shaped edge and an L-shaped feed line. The stair-shaped edge can improve the circular polarization of the antenna. The simulated and measured results show that the antenna has an impedance bandwidth (VSWR < 2) about 1040 MHz (42%@2.47 GHz) and an axial ratio (AR) bandwidth (AR < 3 dB) about 640 MHz (25.8%@2.48 GHz) for 2.45 GHz RFID appl… Show more

“…Semi-analytic techniques are used to solve electromagnetic problems giving some physical insight of the underlying principles [29][30][31][32]. It may be useful to assess the effect of the reactive load caused by broadside-coupling to the CPWTL on the Q-factor of the U-shaped CPWR.…”

“…Several designs of patch antennas with mended ground plane are also presented for large operated bandwidth [9][10][11][12][13][14]. Some papers are reported in the literature where various techniques are used to achieve better radiation pattern, UWB, and current distribution over the radiating elements such as a coplanar wave guide fed monopole antenna using defected substrate [15], rhombus strip bounded annular ring antenna derived by microstrip feedline using DGS [16], compact U shaped modified circular ground plane antenna [17], curved slot loaded rectangular patch monopole MPA [18], microstrip fed monopole antenna by using beveled technique in ground plane [19], round steps on the corner loaded rectangular MPA [20], a modified rectangular patch monopole MPA [21], symmetrical hexagonal radiator monopole antenna [24], asymmetrical U-shaped patch loaded with T-shaped strip monopole antenna [25], circularly polarized MPA with different feeds and radiating shapes [23,27,28] for bandwidth expansion. Additionally, the impacts of metallic and dielectric wedges are explored to improve radiation attributes [29][30][31].…”
