“…Allergic bronchopulmonary aspergillosis (ABPA) was first described by Hinson et al (1) in 1952 as a disease characterized by asthma, eosinophilia, pulmonary infiltrates, and expectoration of "plugs" containing Aspergillus fumigatus. In 1977, Rosenberg et al (2) proposed clinical criteria focusing on immunologic findings for the diagnosis ofABPA; the 7 primary conditions are asthma, eosinophilia, immediateskin reaction to Aspergillus antigen, precipitating antibodies against Aspergillus antigen, elevated serum immunoglobulin E (IgE) levels, pulmonary infiltrates, and central bronchiectasis.…”
