Brownfield, greenfield, and renewable energy consumption: Moderating role of effective governance

Abstract: This study investigates the influence of greenfield investment and brownfield investment on renewable energy consumption along with the moderating effect of government effectiveness in 68 countries over the period 2013 to 2014. In order to evaluate more holistic view of the empirical model, we further divide our data into two sub-panels based on country risk. By applying the system-GMM technique to mitigate statistical biases including endogeneity, the empirical results show that brownfield and greenfield inve… Show more

“…Climate change and global warming are the most highlighted issues that threaten the world (Liu et al, 2020;Shafique et al, 2021b). The incidence of environmental degradation has serious implications for our health and economy (Yahya and Rafiq, 2020). According to the United Nations (UN) Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), the global temperature has increased by 1.5 °C, which is quite high (IPCC, 2018a).…”

“…The electricity sector is constantly emerging since the commencement [ 2 ]. During the last few decades, technology innovations have surfaced to address imminent energy requirements, highlighting primarily two subjects: sustainability and efficiency [ 3 ]. The electric transmission effectiveness depends on the capability to decrease losses by decreasing transmitted current, which has been probable by the manufacturing of HV apparatus, e.g., bushings, capacitors and power transformers, etc.…”
