Buckling Behavior of Circular Steel Tubes under Fire

Abstract: Recently, several lives were lost because of the collapse of structures under fire. Steel members are mainly used in the columns and beams of buildings for improving construction efficiency. The fire resistance of steel structure is very important because when it don’t have fire resistive covering, it rapidly changes with high temperature. In fire resistance design of steel, steel structure must have fire resistive covering. But many facilities as temporary facilities, parking lot don’t have it. The buckling b… Show more

“…They suggest a formula to predict the stability coefficients of aluminum alloy columns on five conditions. Their formula was accurate to evaluate the ultimate loads of aluminum alloy columns at temperature (20-300) [4]. FEM Also used by sea wan to study the characteristics of elastic buckling for a steel circular tube in fire.…”

“…The test results showed that the value of the critical load and Young's Modulus decreases with increasing the temperature for both groups and the difference in critical buckling load at room temperature of (50 o C) was (63.8 % and 62.1%) for groups (A and B), respectively. Seo, Won et al [6] studied the change in the elastic buckling characteristics of a steel circular tube in fire the using finite element analysis. The parameters of the elastic buckling behaviors' analysis used were, diameter-thickness ratio, fire exposure area, and fire scenarios.…”
