“…Budgerigars and cockatoos, especially galah or rose-breasted cockatoos (Eolophus roseicapilla), are prone to developing lipomas (Filippich, 2004;Koski, 2002). Despite the benign nature, the surrounding tissues may be massively invaded by xanthomas (Kubiak, 2021), which was seen in our patient. In terms of etiology, the lipid-rich diet of this bird (majorly composed of pumpkin seed, sunflower seed, hemp seed, and boiled eggs) and lack of any clinical signs related to renal diseases or endocrinopathies explain the propensity of developing xanthogranuloma.…”

“…Budgerigars typically measure around 18-20 cm in length and weigh between 30 and 40 g, with an average lifespan of 6-8 years. Furthermore, it is worth mentioning that these birds possess the ability to mimic speech (Kılıcarslan, 2012;Kubiak, 2020).…”

“…Radiography finds extensive application in poultry as well as many other animals (Reddy & Sivajothi, 2018;Rosen, 2012;Sathyamoorthy et al, 2020). It is widely used in the diagnosis of many cases, such as hernia, tumours, ectopic eggs, fractures, lipoma, ovarian cystic hyperplasia, oophoritis and egg retention in pet birds (Durmus, 2022;Kılıcarslan, 2012;König et al, 2016;Krautwald-Junghanns et al, 2011;Kubiak, 2020). Furthermore, this imaging method proves valuable in determining the sex of animals (Celimli et al, 2008;Leão et al, 2022;Monteiro et al, 2013;Pinheiro et al, 2016;Silva et al, 2020;Szara et al, 2022).…”
