Buried metal detection within the wooden block by X‐band measurements

Abstract: In this article, Electromagnetic(EM) measurements campaign in controlled environment (antenna measurement laboratory) carried out to test, theories on EM bistatic scattering from buried metal detection has been presented. Both background signal subtraction algorithms and image processing techniques were applied. For each measurement, the brilliant area (BA), the ratio of pattern area(containing only non‐zero points) to the total scan area, has been calculated and formula relating BA with the width of the block… Show more

“…1 However, traditional NDE methods using magnetic particles, eddy currents, and penetrant testing have various limitations, especially in hazardous testing environments involving high temperatures and pressures, strong corrosion, or radioactivity. 2,3 The laser ultrasonic technique (LUT) realizes NDE by exciting an ultrasonic far-field with a laser pulse beam and using sonic wave transmission and reflection to identify defects in materials. 4 LUT has features such as remote application, broadband response, and high sensitivity and resolution, but can suffer from detectability issues and quantification difficulties in the presence of poor signal to noise ratios (SNRs).…”
