Business Transaction Privacy and Security Issues in Near Field Communication

Abstract: The main objective of this chapter is to discuss various security threats and solution in business transactions. The basic working principle and theoretical background of near field communication (NFC) technology is discussed. A component of NFC communication section is to be discussed on various NFC operation modes and RFID tags. NFC technology is used in various fields such as electronic toll collection and e-payment collection for shopping. This device-to-device payment system is facing major security issue… Show more

“…Likely proposed about the layers, the interesting fact is about the application layer where the sensors sense the actuators to achieve in needs based on IoT. The NFC is dealing with two factors as active and passive modes, where each domain does it work [13]. RFID deals with three factors as active, passive and active reader active tag.…”

“…Many studies indicate that the usage of secure channels and examining the RF field can address most of these threats [116], while the high speed of data transfer and close distance handles the rest [117]. The close operating distance for NFC prevents an intruding signal from interrupting the signal or inserting threating data during the transfer [118,119]. Some of the steps can help you safely use NFC technology for your mobile phone payments and other applications [113], including:…”
