“…Chronic inflammation may play a role in the occurrence of residual urgency in BPH patients (St Sauver et al., ). With CRP ≥3.0 mg/L, the urinary symptoms in prostatitis patients are more intense, in particular, urgency becomes apparent (Girgis et al., ). In the present research, there were increased levels of TNF‐α and CRP in plasma in T 2 plus aluminium hydroxide adjuvant group.…”

“…55 Interestingly, it is highly abundant in ram seminal plasma 2 and was one of the most abundant proteins we identified in lysates of ejaculated ram spermatozoa; however, increased levels of seminal plasma BDH2 have previously been linked to below average sperm motility (<80%). 56 C Reactive Protein (CRP) has previously been identified in the semen of men with chronic prostatitis 57 but was not present in sperm lysates from healthy donors. 20,37,38 CRP is a blood serum protein produced by hepatocytes and has pleiotropic effects on the immune system, with contextual pro and anti-inflammatory activity, 58 which could indicate an immune based role when present on ejaculated spermatozoa.…”

“…CRP levels have been demonstrated to be elevated in the seminal plasma of patients with infection and chronic prostatitis. [23] The local inflammatory response is a physiological answer to an infection or injury that stimulates the immune system to produce an increased amount of in-flammatory markers. During the acute phase, circulating concentrations of SAA and CRP could increase as much as 1000-fold.…”
