(C6H17N3)[Zn4(PO4)2(HPO3)2]: a new layered zinc phosphate–phosphite templated by 1-(2-Aminoethyl) piperazine

“…A third, novel layered structure containing a 4.6.8-net, reminiscent of that found in a series of aluminosilicates with Al 3 P 4 O 16 3À stoichiometry but never seen before in either phosphates or phosphites, is observed in (C 6 N 2 H 16 )Zn 3 (HPO 3 )$H 2 O, 70 shows a new double-layer structure with each layer made of a 3.9-network of strictly alternating ZnO 4 and P-centred units. 72 A double-layer structure is also found in (C 3 N 2 H 5 ) [Zn 2 (HPO 3 ) 2 (H 2 PO 3 )] and (C 4 N 2 H 7 ) 2 [Zn 2 (HPO 3 ) 3 ] $2H 2 O, 73 in which, in contrast to what is usually observed in other zincophosphates and -phosphites, imidazole and 2-methylimidazole molecules do not link to the metal centres but act purely as templating agents. The pattern of the inorganic anionic sheets is very similar for both compounds with a somewhat different connectivity leading in both cases to a 4.8.12-net.…”
