Cadmium silicate nanopowders for radiation dosimetry application: Luminescence and dielectric studies

Abstract: a b s t r a c tPure cadmium silicate (CdSiO 3 ) nanophosphor was prepared by a low temperature solution combustion technique. In this technique, meso-structured silica was used as silica source. The prepared compounds were well characterized by powder X-ray diffraction (PXRD), scanning electron microscopy, high resolution transmission electron microscopy, Fourier transform infrared and UV-vis spectroscopic techniques. The PXRD peaks of as-formed sample are broad and amorphous in nature. The compound calcined a… Show more

“…Several glasses have the potential to be applied as high-dose dosimeters, due to its small size, low production cost and dosimetry properties [TEIXEIRA, 2004]. Glasses containing Cadmium (Cd) have been evaluated and showed promising results of being used as dosimeters [MANOHARA et al, 2015;ANJAIAH et al 2014]. However, it is necessary more research to evaluate how the modification on the concentration of Cadmium affects the dosimeter response, justifying this work.…”

“…Matrizes vítreas que contém Cádmio (Cd) em sua composição têm sido avaliadas e mostram resultados promissores para serem utilizadas como dosímetros pela literatura recente [4,5]. Entretanto, mais estudos são necessários para avaliar como a alteração na concentração de Cádmio, na matriz, afeta a sua resposta dosimétrica.…”
