Cadmiumgehalte in Getreideproben der Vergangenheit ? Vergleich zur Gegenwart

Abstract: Samples of wheat, rye and barley from previous harvests, some of them dating back even to the past century and placed at the authors' disposal by a number of seed growers and governmental research institutions, were examined for their cadmium content by AAS or ICP-AES. Although no statistically valid data could be obtained owing to the low number of samples, it should nevertheless be stressed that the cadmium content found in cereal samples from harvests of the past were within the range of present-day wheat s… Show more

“…A whole grain contains 0.04-0.05 mg kg 21 of cadmium (Chaudri et al 1995;Mench, Braize, and Mocquuot 1997;Conti, Cubadda, and Carcea 2000). Lorenz et al (1986) claim that these values are 0.02 -0.10 mg kg 21 . Zhang et al (1997) report that the cadmium concentration is higher in wheat bran than in endospermic parts.…”

“…In literature there has been some dispute about the question whether or not the Cd concentrations in cereal grains have increased during this century (Andersson & Bingefors, 1985;Kjellström et al, 1975;Jansson, 1980;Lorenz et al, 1986). The considerable annual fluctuations mentioned earlier strongly complicate the inter pretation of data collected over long periods of time.…”
