“…We and others have previously shown that Desip or its precursor imipramine block depression-like behaviors of mice (Basu Mallik et al, 2016; Elgarf et al, 2014; Jain et al, 2001; Mello et al, 2013; O’Leary et al, 2007; Park et al, 2011; Platt et al, 2013; Shen et al, 1999; Tomaz et al, 2014), and that Ido1 is necessary for murine depression-like behavior (Lawson et al, 2013; O’Connor et al, 2009b; O’Connor et al, 2009c; Salazar et al, 2012). With the current data, we highlight a new putative mechanism for Desip’s anti-depressant activity: decreasing Ido1 and Ido2 expression within the brain and periphery.…”
