Calcium Carbonate Particle Growth Depending on Coupling among Adjacent Layers in Hybrid LB/LbL Films

Abstract: There are practical and academic situations that justify the study of calcium carbonate crystallization and especially of systems that are associated with organic matrices and a confined medium. Despite the fact that many different matrices have been studied, the use of well-behaved, thin organic films may provide new knowledge about this system. In this work, we have studied the growth of calcium carbonate particles on well-defined organic matrices that were formed by layer-by-layer (LbL) polyelectrolyte film… Show more

“…Ca 2+ -containing subphases diminish the minimum molecular area of DMPA monolayers Figure 3 shows the π-A isotherms of DMPA. The shape of the isotherm is in agreement with previously reported data [40,41]. The compression of the monolayer was observed in the presence of CaCl 2 at the subphase.…”

“…The salt concentration used in this study was higher than the concentrations generally used for DMPA Langmuir monolayers [41,42]. This high ionic-strength was used in order to coadsorb TNAP with DMPA (the first present at the interface only through the salting-out effect).…”

“…48 Biomimetic approaches have been used in order to maintain the mechanical properties of the metals simultaneously increasing their bioactivity through surface modifications. [49][50][51][52][53][54][55][56][57] The further adsorption of COL1 to titanium surfaces using biomimetic immobilization into phospholipid Langmuir-Blodgett films stimulated apatite precipitation and proliferation of osteoblasts compared to bare titanium. 58 The materials used for bone regeneration can be found as a permanent graft or a temporary tissue connector.…”
