Abstract:The paper presents a detailed theoretical analysis of characteristics of a rotationally symmetric lens system with one or two aspherical surfaces having corrected spherical aberration and reduced coma aberration for a given position of the object and the image. Formulas for surface shape optimization are derived, and the procedure for calculating the aspherical system is shown. The presented formulas are verified with examples of ray tracing.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
