Abstract:Earlier work on the inelastic scattering of neutrons by heavy nuclei in the 1-4-MeV region is extended to the lighter elements Fe and Al. Calculations using a diffuse-edged optical-model potential defined by six parameters, including a spin-orbit term, are sufficient to describe the total and differential elastic scattering. When the Hauser-Feshbach formalism is applied, inelastic-scattering calculations consistent with the above model fit the experimental data reasonably well. The relationship to models requi… Show more
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
