Calibration of a 32 channel electron cyclotron emission radiometer on the HL-2A tokamak

Abstract: A novel 32-channel electron cyclotron emission radiometer has been designed and tested for the measurement of electron temperature profiles on the HL-2A tokamak. This system is based on the intermediate frequency filter detection technique, and has the features of wide working frequency range and high spatial resolution. Two relative calibration methods have been investigated: sweeping the toroidal magnetic field and hopping the output frequency of the local oscillator. Preliminary results show that both metho… Show more

“…The parameters in this discharge are as follows: major radius , minor radius , magnetic field , plasma current , and background electron density . Figure 1 shows the temporal evolution of plasma parameters of a typical discharge, where the electron temperature is measured at normalized radius with an electron cyclotron emission (ECE) radiometer [ 14 ] and the line-average density is measured with a far infrared rays (FIR) laser interferometer [ 15 ]. Plasma current is kept stable from 200 ms to 1700 ms.…”

“…The waveform V (t) via the dynamic calibration described in previous section is shown in figure 4(d) with the dispersion of all the optical path concerned. density profiles during tearing mode, synchronized with the temperature signal from the electron cyclotron emission (ECE) radiometer [13], which indicates the density and temperature profiles are modulated by the rotation of the island.…”

“…The shape of the electron density profile is assumed to be the same as that of the similar discharge #25733. [12] The electron and thermal ion temperature profiles are measured through electron cyclotron emission [15] and charge exchange recombination [16] diagnosis systems, respectively. Fast ion profiles are output from NUBEAM [17] calculation.…”
