Calibration of operational GOSAT Level 1 products

Abstract: Greenhouse gases Observing SATellite (GOSAT) is a Japanese mission to observe greenhouse gases, such as CO 2 and CH 4 , from space with a Fourier transform spectrometer and a push broom imager. The GOSAT was launched on January 23, 2009. The GOSAT is operated normally and acquired the observation data over 1.5 year from April 2009 of initial calibration and validation phase. The Level 1 products were released to public from October 2009, the Level 2 from February 2010. The Level 1 products are updated and eval… Show more

“…The influence of the ILS is primarily reflected in two aspects: modulation loss and phase error: modulation loss causes the broadening of the ILS, and phase error affects the symmetry of the ILS. This paper aims to describe the two main characteristics that affect the ILS by introducing a Gaussian function model, as shown in Equation (18).…”

“…This involves measuring the ILSF by selecting prominent gas absorption lines or laser wavelengths within the working spectral range. For on-orbit ILSF determination, laser diodes are commonly chosen as light sources [18][19][20], sharing the same principles as tunable lasers. Another option is to use the solar spectrum, although adjustments to parameters such as the distance from the Sun to the Earth and solar activity cycles are necessary [21].…”
