Can asthma education improve the treatment of acute asthma exacerbation in young children?

This paper aims to evaluate the effectiveness of staff asthma education programs in ensuring correct treatment for young children experiencing asthma exacerbations in formal care. “…MCPSS teachers had asthma knowledge scores above the preestablished threshold for asthma knowledge efficacy; scores were derived based on a brief survey. Soo and colleagues (2013) point out that a lack of standardized asthma knowledge questionnaires complicates the evaluation of knowledge surveys [18]. Asthma knowledge should be further examined with a more comprehensive, uniform survey instrument which will allow more effective cross comparisons.…”

“…These difficulties are partly explained by the lack of information and education of asthma patients by doctors in charge of asthma patients. A Well-conducted and continuous therapeutic education must imperatively be integrated into the treatment of asthma, since it has shown its effectiveness in the prevention of exacerbations of asthma by reducing the use of emergency rooms and hospitalizations [14,15]. Therapeutic education is a continuous process, which is an integral and permanent part of patient care.…”
