Can three-dimensional pelvimetry using low-dose stereoradiography replace low-dose CT pelvimetry?

Abstract: Pelvic inlet measurements using SRI are reliable. Compared to CT pelvimetry, SRI leads to a significant decrease in fetal and maternal radiation doses. These findings should prompt physicians to use SRI as the first-line approach for pelvimetry.

“…Optimal S3 lead implantation requires fluoroscopic guidance during surgery, while a simple and effective implantation protocol helps reduce laborious fluoroscopy exposure 14 . To explore an appropriate protocol that might be of clinical utility, we applied CT‐derived three‐dimensional volumetric model reconstruction to measure anatomic landmarks noninvasively and efficiently in a large population 17,20 . We measured anatomic measurements for the S3 foramen pertinent to SNM in 739 patients.…”

The anatomic measurements for the S3 foramen indicated a unique implantation protocol for different sexes.…”

“…19 Regarding to evidences based on the anatomy and anthropology sciences, the pelvimetry technique has an important role in determination of the bony pelvis diameters and estimating the pelvic diameters. 1 In this study, results of pelvimetry using CT in study population and its association with increased cesarean section rate were evaluated. In this study, the height of mothers did not match with type of delivery and pelvis dimensions.…”

“…The pelvimetry refers to the evaluation of the diameters of the bony pelvis to assess the pelvic cavity for the passage of a fetus. 1 The maternal pelvis morphological feature is important predictive factor of vaginal delivery.…”

“…The helical acquisitions provided reliable measurements of pelvic diameters: the promonto-retro-pubic diameter, the transverse median and bi-spinous diameters. Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is a non-irradiating imaging technique that also yields reliable pelvic measurements [7], and although it seems to be a good alternative, the use of MRI remains limited by availability issues [8].…”
