Cancer‐derived non‐coding RNAs endow tumor microenvironment with immunosuppressive properties

Tong Hu,
Run Shi,
Yunru Gu
et al.

Abstract: Non‐coding RNAs (ncRNAs) have attracted extensive attention due to their vital roles in tumorigenesis and progression, especially in the immunotherapy resistance. Tumor immunotherapy resistance is a crucial factor hindering the efficacy of tumor treatments, which can be largely attributed to the immunosuppressive properties of tumor microenvironment. Current studies have revealed that cancer‐derived ncRNAs are involved in the formation of tumor immunosuppressive microenvironment (TIME) through multiple ways. T… Show more

“…We collected 129 sequences and performed a motif discovery and enrichment analysis using the XSTREME (MEME suite 5.5.1) toolbox. We obtained 20 RNA motifs between 6 and 15 nt in length, with the UAGGGA motif resulting as the most enriched ( p value =1.78*10 - 3 ) and the GAAGGG motif as the most common among the hnRNPs ( E value =3.02*10 - 1 ) ( Figure 1H and S1D ). Notably, these purine-rich motifs distinguished one of the EXO motifs previously identified in miRNAs enriched in secreted EVs and bound by hnRNPA2B1 in T cells 22 .…”

“…RNA-binding proteins (RBPs) orchestrate different RNA processing activities, from transcription, splicing, maturation, transport, and translation to RNA degradation. Recently, RNA secretion through extracellular vesicles (EVs) 1,2 has increasingly been recognized as part of the conditional microenvironment in cancer and neurodegenerative diseases 3,4,5,6,7 . EVs are conceived as vehicles of intercellular communication 8,9 .…”

“…Tumor resistance to immunotherapy has become a key factor affecting the efficacy of tumor therapy, which largely stems from the immunosuppressive properties of the tumor microenvironment ( 141 ). These studies provide a direction for understanding the role of lncRNAs in immunotherapy for OC.…”

“…Non-coding RNAs (ncRNAs), a classification of RNA molecules, function to regulate various biological processes, i.e., gene expression, cell growth, differentiation, and cell death ( 92 ). Among them, microRNAs are the most studied RNA that exert a variety of biological functions in multiple diseases ( 93 ).…”
