Cancer Drug Resistance – Targets and Therapies

Abstract

The development of drug resistance represents a major obstacle in tumor therapy. Besides targeted resistance to distinct compounds, multiple drug resistance caused by drug efflux pumps also renders tumor therapy ineffective. In this article, we provide an overview on the main mechanisms of drug resistance in tumor therapy as well as concepts to overcome them.
