Chronic kidney disease negatively impacts the lives of a significant number of Americans. Unlike patients who suffer from chronic illnesses such as cardiovascular disease and pulmonary disease, renal patients currently do not have access to rehabilitation services specifically tailored to their ailments. Implementing renal rehabilitation services has the potential to attenuate further progression of kidney disease and improve the quality of life of patients. Providing properly structured renal rehabilitation services to kidney patients should be a future goal of the medical community.
