“…The study site, Chungbuk, has the geographical feature of an inland basin located in the center of Korea with various PM emission facilities, such as industrial complexes, incineration facilities and cement factories. Our previous studies found that living near environmentally hazardous facilities in the Chungbuk region increased the risk of cancer [ 18 , 19 , 20 ]. These results suggest the need for environmental interventions in such residential areas in order to lower cancer incidence and mortality.…”
