CAPE-OPEN (CO) Standards: Implementation and Maintenance

Abstract: The use of visualisation techniques, more specifically of a series of equilibrium subspaces has greatly helped in the understanding of the relationships among all variables associated with separation of complex non-ideal systems by distillation. The azeotropic distillation of ethanol/water, with pentane as the entrainer, was studied. Parameterization of the equilibrium surfaces in terms of the bubble point temperature was used to search for maximum or minimum boiling ternary azeotropes. It was observed that th… Show more

“…And a standardization body (CAPE-OPEN Laboratories Network, CO-LaN) has been established to maintain and disseminate the software standards in the CAPE domain that have been developed in the international projects CAPE-OPEN and Global CAPE-OPEN. The CO-LaN ensure that software tools used by the process industries reach a level of interoperability that will help ensure sustained growth and competitiveness [25,26].…”

“…For the future, the Global CAPE-OPEN (GCO) project is expanding and developing interface specification standards to insure interoperability of CAPE software components. And a standardization body (CAPE-OPEN Laboratories Network, CO-LaN) has been established to maintain and disseminate the software standards in the CAPE domain and to ensure that software tools reach a level of interoperability that will help ensure sustained growth and competitiveness [12].…”

“…These two major drawbacks have been addressed by Daniel Wagner Oliveira de Medeiros by providing the free open source sequential modular CAPE-OPEN [2,3] compliant process simulator DWSIM [4]. Previous attempts have been made to provide an open source chemical process simulator such as the Sim42 project [5,6] unfortunately without considerable success.…”
