Introduction: Urban transit accident are a global public health problem. The objective of this study was to describe the profile of the victims and the occurrences of urban transit accidents attended to by emergency mobile care services (Serviço de Atendimento Móvel de Urgência-SAMU) in Recife, and their distribution based on spatial analysis. Methodology: An ecological study, developed through secondary data from emergency mobile care services in Recife, referring to the total number of occurrences of urban transit accidents attended to from January 1 to June 30, 2015. The spatial analysis was performed using the Moran index. Results: Basic support units performed most of the emergency services (89.2%). Among the victims, there was a predominance of males (76.8%) and an age group of 20 -29 years old (31.5%). Collisions were responsible for 59.9% of the transit accidents, and motorcycles for 61.6% of the accidents among all means of transportation. Friday was the day that showed the highest risk for treatment, and there was a concentration of events between 6:00 am -8:59am and 6:00pm -8:59pm. The MoranMap identified critical areas where calls came from traffic accidents during the period analyzed. Discussion: The records of the mobile service from the spatial analysis are an important source of information for health surveillance. Conclusion: The spatial analysis of urban transit accidents identified regions with a positive spatial correlation, providing subsidies to the logistical planning of emergency mobile care services. This study is groundbreaking in that it offers such information about the region.

Este estudo objetivou identificar um padrão na distribuição espacial dos acidentes de trânsito com vítimas em João Pessoa, utilizando os dados do SAMU, entre 2010 e 2011. Trata-se de um estudo de base populacional, com uso de dados secundários para descrever o risco relativo e a distribuição espacial dos acidentes de trânsito utilizando o método Scan. Das 10.070 ocorrências, 1.793 (17,8%) vítimas apresentaram hálito etílico e 85 (0,8%) morreram no local do acidente. A maior parte das vítimas foi do sexo masculino (74,5%), pertencente à faixa etária de 20 a 29 anos (37,7%). A maioria dos veículos envolvidos foi composta por motocicletas (52,8%) e a colisão foi o tipo de acidente mais frequente (46,2%). Na análise do risco relativo e da distribuição espacial, verificou-se que os bairros com alto risco relativo e que formaram conglomerados espaciais significativos concentraram-se nas regiões norte, noroeste e nordeste do município. Estas informações podem ser fundamentais para o planejamento e melhor alocação de recursos humanos e materiais, visando prevenção e/ou combate dos acidentes de trânsito em João Pessoa. Objective:Globally, more than 1.2 million people die from traffic accidents each year. In order to reduce the rate of traffic accidents and their subsequent social consequences in Sao Paulo, Brazil, the aim of this study was to characterize pedestrian victims of traffic accidents and occurrences. Methods:This is a cross-sectional, quantitative, descriptive and retrospective epidemiological study of 2723 pedestrians injured in traffic accidents during 2016 in Sao Paulo. Results:Of the total sample, 37.3% participants were female and 62.7% male; incidence was highest in the 10-19 year old age group (19.9%) and lower limb injuries were most frequent (28.6%). Of the cases attended in urgent health care units, 75.6% progressed to hospital discharge. Accidents were more frequent in the afternoon (44.6%), and most commonly involved cars (47.2%). Conclusions:This study showed the importance of making detailed records of traffic accidents to guide the government in intensive education efforts to develop a healthy society and respect for traffic regulations, to promote urban improvements involving signage and pavement, and to maintain pre-hospital and hospital care teams in strategic locations to minimize the time elapsed between the accident and care provided to the victim.
