BACKGROUND: Stroke is a clinical syndrome that can cause neurological disorders due to a reduction or interruption in the blood flow at the brain level. Transcranial direct current stimulation (TDCS) is a non-invasive electrotherapy technique with the ability to modulate the function of nervous tissue. OBJECTIVE: The aim of this review is to analyze the effects derived from the application of the TDCS for post-stroke patients on functionality and mobility. METHODS: The data search was conducted in PubMed, PEDro, Cochrane Library, Web of Science and Scopus between July and August 2023. The search focused on randomized clinical trials conducted in the period of 2019–2023, and according to the selection criteria, seven studies were obtained. RESULTS: The results found are mainly focused on the analysis of the scales Fugl-Meyer Assessment for Upper Extremity and Wolf Motor Function Test. CONCLUSION: The application of TDCS presents benefits in post-stroke individuals on functionality, mobility and other secondary studied variables.

Hand rehabilitation based on the RobHand exoskeleton in stroke patients: A case series study

Introduction: The RobHand (Robot for Hand Rehabilitation) is a robotic neuromotor rehabilitation exoskeleton that assists in performing flexion and extension movements of the fingers. The present case study assesses changes in manual function and hand muscle strength of four selected stroke patients after completion of an established training program. In addition, safety and user satisfaction are also evaluated.Methods: The training program consisted of 16 sessions; two 60-minute training sessions per week for eight consecutive weeks. During each session, patients moved through six consecutive rehabilitation stages using the RobHand. Manual function assessments were applied before and after the training program and safety tests were carried out after each session. A user evaluation questionnaire was filled out after each patient completed the program.Results: The safety test showed the absence of significant adverse events, such as skin lesions or fatigue. An average score of 4 out of 5 was obtained on the Quebec User Evaluation of Satisfaction with Assistive Technology 2.0 Scale. Users were very satisfied with the weight, comfort, and quality of professional services. A Kruskal-Wallis test revealed that there were not statistically significant changes in the manual function tests between the beginning and the end of the training program.Discussion: It can be concluded that the RobHand is a safe rehabilitation technology and users were satisfied with the system. No statistically significant differences in manual function were found. This could be due to the high influence of the stroke stage on motor recovery since the study was performed with chronic patients. Hence, future studies should evaluate the rehabilitation effectiveness of the repetitive use of the RobHand exoskeleton on subacute patients.Clinical Trial Registration:https://clinicaltrials.gov/ct2/show/NCT05598892?id=NCT05598892&draw=2&rank=1, identifier NCT05598892.

Objetivo: Brindar intervención de enfermería para corregir los signos vitales y seguir con el tratamiento por complicación de ACV. Caso clínico: Adulto mayor, de sexo femenino, peso de 49 kg, talla de 152 cm, temperatura de 36,5 °C, P/A 140/90 mmHg, dolor de cabeza, tos con expulsión de flema, dolor con escala de EVA 8/10 al moverse, FR 25 rpm. Método: El estudio es de enfoque cualitativo y método de caso clínico único. El caso clínico se realizó en una residencia domiciliaria en el mes de junio, utilizando el marco teórico de valoración de Marjory Gordon y la taxonomía NANDA-NOC-NIC. Resultados: Con los debidos cuidados de enfermería, la evolución del paciente fue satisfactorio de acuerdo con las alteraciones que presentaba. Conclusiones: Se identificaron seis diagnósticos de enfermería prioritarios. El primer diagnóstico, (00029) disminución del gasto cardiaco, tuvo como indicador NOC al control de la presión arterial con puntuación basal de 4, su puntuación de cambio posintervención fue de +1, obteniendo un puntaje final de 5. El segundo, (00031) limpieza ineficaz de las vías aéreas, tuvo como indicador NOC a la capacidad de eliminar secreciones con puntuación basal de 3, su puntuación de cambio posintervención fue de +2, obteniendo un puntaje final de 5.
