CARBINOLAMINES OF THE TYPE R-CHOH-CH₂NR₂ DERIVED FROM 7- AND 8-ACETYL-1,2,3,4-TETRAHYDROACRIDINES AS PLASMODICIDES¹

Abstract

1. The synthesis of two groups of amino carbinols derived from 7and 8acetyl-1,2,3,4-tetrahydroacridine is described.2. The structure of 8-acetyl-l,2,3,4-tetrahydroacridine has been established.3. It has been demonstrated that alkyl migration apparently does not occur during Pd-C dehydrogenation of either 3-ethyl-, or 8-ethyl-l ,2,3,4-tetrahydroacridine.4. Moderate plasmodicidal activity was shown by all of the 8-substituted amino carbinols. Members of the 7-series were inactive.Bethesda 14, Maryland
