Carbonitration of a Tool for Pressing Stainless Steel Pipes

Abstract: To upgrade the operational stability of the tool at LLC “Karbaz”, Sumy, Ukraine, carbonation of tools and samples for research in melts of salts of cyanates and carbonates of alkali metals at 570–580 °C was carried out to obtain a layer thickness of 0.15–0.25 mm and a hardness of 1000–1150 НV. Tests of the tool in real operating conditions were carried out at the press station at LLC “VO Oscar”, Dnipro, Ukraine. The purpose of the test is to evaluate the feasibility of carbonitriding of thermo-strengthened mat… Show more

“…Increasing the temperature from 450 • C to 700 • C significantly reduces the surface hardness and increases the layer's thickness. Given this performance, the optimization is the ratio of the surface hardness to the thickness of the nitride layer [44], the optimum nitriding temperature of 550 • C was chosen [45].…”

“…The decision of ecological costs of diffusion hardening and increase of operational properties of a surface layer relates to the development and use of specially developed powder mixes (coatings, pastes). They are called saturating mediums (carburizer) [29].…”

“…Based on previous studies, it is worth noting that the addition of nanoparticles to cutting fluids to improve MQL efficiency has received so far more attention from researchers. However, less attention has been paid to the addition of MWCNT and its hybrid MWCNT-MoS 2 to the cutting fluid, while the tool-job turning combination consists of AISI 304 as a workpiece, and coated carbide [17,18] as a cutting tool. Hence, a contribution was made in this research to fill this gap.…”
