“…Nevertheless, the hydrophobicity of melanin may limit its applications. It was reported that its water solubility could be improved by amino acid [24], carboxymethylation [38], d ‐glucosamine [25], and methylation [39]. In the present study, GLM was modified by a series of amino acids.…”

“…The chemical modification is an important way for polysaccharides to improve their intrinsic bioactivities and create new functional properties (Nie, Shi, Ding, & Tao, ). The main chain of PMEP was composed of (1→4)‐α‐D‐glucose, (1→6)‐α‐D‐galactose, (1→2)‐α‐D‐mannose, and (1→5)‐α‐D‐arabinose; its branch chain was composed of (1→2→6)‐α‐D‐mannose, (1→2→6)‐α‐D‐glucose, and (1→2→6)‐α‐D‐galactose (Li et al., ). Hence, we prepared the sulfated, carboxymethylated, and acetylated derivatives of PMEP, and studied their antioxidant and antiproliferative activities.…”

“…The extra-polysaccharides as well as crude polysaccharides isolated from morels had a remarkable effect on alleviating oxidative stress [18,19]. Moreover, with cholesterol-lowering ability, morels protect against cardiovascular diseases [20]. In addition, it has more functions, like more exhibited hepatoprotective activity, resisting gentamicin and cisplatin induced nephrotoxicity by restoring the depleted antioxidant defense system [21,22].…”
