Cardiac magnetic resonance myocardial feature-tracking: the effect of treatment in patients with adult-onset growth hormone deficiency and acromegaly

Abstract: We have previously documented abnormalities in cardiac structure in patients with adult-onset growth hormone deficiency (GHD) and acromegaly which partially resolved during treatment (Dattani et al. 2012, Zemrak et al. 2012). No treatment effect was seen on global measures of cardiac function e.g. left ventricular ejection fraction. The aim of this study was to use quantitative strain parameters from cardiac magnetic resonance (CMR) myocardial feature tracking (FT) to assess regional changes in function before… Show more

“…An accurate title or abstract revision was sufficient to exclude 139 articles as not pertinent or not fulfilling our prespecified inclusion or exclusion criteria. The remaining 8 studies were assessed in full-text for eligibility (42)(43)(44)(45)(49)(50)(51)(52), and 4 of them were excluded due to patient overlap (49-52); thus, 4 studies finally met all criteria for being included in the final analysis (42-45) (Figure 1).…”

“…Outros artigos propuseram avaliar a influência da acromegalia no sistema cardiovascular. Javaid et al (2013), identificaram diferença significativa na deformação circunferencial de quatro câmaras em pacientes com acromegalia em comparação com o normal por meio da RM. Kormányus et al (2018), encontraram, por meio da ecocardiografia, associação entre o aumento do átrio esquerdo e alterações em suas propriedades funcionais com a acromegalia.…”
