Cardioprotective Efficacy of Taurine on Lipid-Metabolism of Isoproterenol-Induced Myocardial Infarction

Abstract: Objective: The present study aimed to evaluate the effect of pre-treatment with taurine on rats in which MI had been induced using isoproterenol (ISO).Methods: Rats were randomly allocated into three groups; the 1st group is the normal control (C) one, the 2nd is the isoproterenol cardiotoxic (ISO) one and the 3rd group is the taurine pretreated (T-ISO) one. Results:The activities of the cardiac biomarker enzymes, AST, LDH, CK and CK-MB were elevated in the ISO-treated group. The membrane-bound Na + -K + and C… Show more

“…In line with previous work, our results have shown significant high plasma content of TG, T‐Ch, and LDL‐c with low levels of HDL‐c, which creates a breeding ground for coronary heart disease 22 . The dyslipidaemia described during myocardial infarction under hypoxic condition could be due to high c‐AMP increase which leads to enhancement of lipid biosynthesis 23 .…”

“…Cypermethrin was administered to the CYP group at 20 mg/kg (10 % of the LD50 of CYP that was selected as 200 mg/kg). The TA50+CYP group received TA at 50 mg/kg (Cetiner et al, 2005;Akande et al, 2014 a,b) and CYP at 20 mg/kg, successively, while the TA100+CYP group was administered with TA at 100 mg/kg (Abdel-Reheim, 2016;Heidari et al, 2018) and CYP at 20 mg/kg, consecutively. The treatments were administered once daily by oral gavage for 35 days.…”
