Cardiovascular Outcomes in the Patients With Primary Central Nervous System Lymphoma: A Multi-Registry Based Cohort Study of 4,038 Cases

Abstract: Primary central nervous system lymphoma (PCNSL) is a rare but highly aggressive non-Hodgkin lymphoma. Treatment-related cardiovascular lesion has become one of the most common complications in patients with tumor. However, very little is known about the cardiovascular death (CVD) of the patients with PCNSL. This study aims at identifying the cardiovascular outcomes of PCNSL patients and making comparison on CVD with extra central nervous system lymphoma (ECNSL). Clinical information of PCNSL and ECNSL was retr… Show more

“…This trend was also re ected in the SMR results, with a lower SMR observed in the later period (2005-2018) compared to the previous period (2000)(2001)(2002)(2003)(2004)(2005)(2006)(2007)(2008)(2009)(2010)(2011)(2012)(2013)(2014)(2015)(2016)(2017). This nding is consistent with previous research, which suggests that cardiovascular detection and management improvements may have contributed to the reduced risk of cardiovascular disease among pancreatic cancer patients 21,22 .…”

“…Data were obtained from the SEER database, an authoritative data system that covers about 30% of the population of the United States ( 12 ). Institutional review board approval was not required for publicly available information ( 13 , 14 ). Patients in the SEER database initially diagnosed with PCNSL from 2007 to 2016 were included.…”

“…More to the point, results from analyses that use population-level databases tend to be more generalizable and representative than those from single-center reports ( 24 ). Actually, sufficient incorporated samples are needed to guarantee the accuracy of nomograms, as demonstrated our recent publications ( 5 , 18 , 24 ). Notably, no competing-risk model has been established to evaluate the risk of CVD among patients with CRC so far.…”

“…In the past decade, cardiovascular death (CVD) has been regarded as one of the most common late complications of cancer therapy ( 4 , 5 ). Indeed, the introduction of novel chemotherapeutic or immunotherapeutic drugs has brought considerable survival benefits for patients with advanced tumors ( 6 ).…”
