“…a prevalence of 24% in Jordan (17), 26% in Saudi Arabia (18), 41% in Sultanate of Oman (19) and up to 80% in India (20). Consistently, dmfs/dmft and DMFS/DMFT scores from these areas are also generally lower than reported in this study; however, somewhat higher scores have been reported from Saudi Arabia after exclusion of caries‐free subjects (18).…”

“…The prevalence of dental caries in children has declined in many developed countries yet remains high in most developing countries [2]. In Saudi Arabia, less than 10% of children are caries-free [3][4][5][6][7][8]. The decayed, missing and filled permanent teeth (DMFT) index values among 12-year-old children range from 3-5, indicating moderate to severe oral disease [8][9][10].…”

“…Many studies show that caries distribution in the Kingdom varies from 90-95%, with some studies suggesting that only 4% of Saudi children aged between 6-7years of age were free of dental caries [8,12,21,22]. Nainar and Wyne, in a study conducted in Riyadh suggested that preschool children had anterior and posterior teeth problems in about 90% and almost all the pre-school children had posterior caries [23].…”
