Cascade Control of Grid-Connected PV Systems Using TLBO-Based Fractional-Order PID

Abstract: Cascade control is one of the most efficient systems for improving the performance of the conventional single-loop control, especially in the case of disturbances. Usually, controller parameters in the inner and the outer loops are identified in a strict sequence. This paper presents a novel cascade control strategy for grid-connected photovoltaic (PV) systems based on fractional-order PID (FOPID). Here, simultaneous tuning of the inner and the outer loop controllers is proposed. Teaching-learning-based optimi… Show more

“…The used representation allows to understand the relations between all the system parameters and to conceive the system controllers. The maximum control structure (MCS) is deduced by inversion of the EMR and helps for modeling the control loops (Lhomme et al, 2012;Badis, Mansouri, & Boujmil, 2019).…”

“…It can be controlled by means of sliding-mode (SM) control, by using variable structure control system (VSCS). However, there are still a few issues in the converters, which have led to the drift to advanced control strategies like input output linearization [25]- [26], feedback linearization [27]- [28], which are non-linear and does not provide themselves to the application of linear control theory.…”

“…In reference [19], particle swarm optimization (PSO) is used to optimize the grid connection design, but the local optimization performance is poor. In reference [20], the cascade control strategy of a fractional-order PID photovoltaic grid-connected system is adopted, but its parameter tuning is difficult.…”
