Catalytic decomposition of ethanol on V2O5/AlPO4 catalysts

Abstract: Different ratios of vanadium pentoxide supported on aluminum phosphate (1±30 mol%) have been prepared by an impregnation method. The original and calcined samples were characterized by TG, DTG, DSC, X-ray diffraction, IR spectra, N 2 adsorption and electrical conductivity measurements. The catalytic decomposition of ethanol has been carried out at 210°C in a¯ow system at 1 atm using air as a carrier gas. The results indicate that the catalysts calcined at 400°C were active and selective towards ethene formatio… Show more

“…P-OH groups are most probably responsible for Bronsted acidity on AlPO 4 surfaces and are quite stable. 39,40 In addition, P-OH acidity may be further enhanced by hydrogen bonding to Al-OH groups, as stated by Moffat et al 41 However, the acid properties of AlPO 4 can be modied by introducing elements different from Al and P in the framework at different loading. Thus, it is evident from Fig.…”

“…The current composite catalysts' catalytic performance was examined for the Vapor phase dehydration of isopropanol employing chromatographic analysis by FID with a Unicam Pro GC2000 [12,22,47]. In a typical experiment 300 mg using of catalyst, in the temperature range120-250 o C, air atmosphere as a carrier gas, and the total flow rate was 50 ml min -1 , 2.7 % isopropanol (IPA) in the gas feed and space-time (GHSV 10,000mlg -1 h -1 ).…”
