Catalytic hydrotreatment of lignin‐derived pyrolysis bio‐oils using Cu/γ‐Al 2 O 3 catalyst: Reaction network development and kinetic study of anisole upgrading

Abstract: Kinetic of anisole upgrading as a model compound of lignin-derived pyrolysis bio-oil to jet-grade fuels via catalytic hydrotreatment process has been investigated. Hydrodeoxygenation (HDO) process has been performed in a fixed-bed tubular reactor at operating temperature of 573 to 723 K, space velocity of 3 to 120 (anisole weight)/(catalyst weight × h), and hydrogen pressure of 8 bar.Benzene formation through demethoxylation reaction of anisole was identified to be the primary reaction route in contrast to dem… Show more

“…The observed red shift in MÀ O bond frequency supports the notion that trivalent iron species become incorporated in the α-Ni(OH) 2 hydrotalcite framework. [43,44] The presence of more iron in the framework (as in the NF10 sample) results in a reduction in the number of interlayer water molecules, consistent with strong interactions between carbonate species and the hydroxyl groups of the octahedral structure of the framework metal species. [45] XRD patterns NiÀ Fe HT materials 006), ( 009), ( 018), (110), and (113) planes of the layered hydrotalcite structure respectively.…”

“…In recent years, the share of biomass as a renewable resource in total primary energy supply has increased significantly 1‐3 . The biomass‐derived energy sources such as bio‐oil, biogas, and bio‐char have received more attention because of their advantages such as being renewable, low content of sulfur, and slight emission of carbon dioxide 4‐8 .…”

“…In recent years. The development and application of biomass conversion technologies (e.g., pyrolysis and catalytic pyrolysis) have also attracted extensive attention all over the world [13]. Among various biomass technologies, thermochemical conversion and hydro pyrolysis are considered relatively new methods to convert biomass into substitutes [14].…”
