Catalytic performance of gallium oxide based-catalysts for the propane dehydrogenation reaction: effects of support and loading amount

Abstract: Ga2O3-based catalysts supported on different supports (ZSM-5, SBA-15, γ-Al2O3 and SiO2) were prepared, and the effects of supports and Ga2O3 content (1–9 wt%) on their catalytic performance for the propane dehydrogenation reaction were discussed.

“…30,54 The catalysts were subjected, after the reaction, to various analyses: N 2 -physisorption (BET), thermal gravimetric analysis (TGA) and high-angle annular dark-field scanning transmission electron microscopy (HAADF-STEM). [55][56][57] The obtained results are shown in Table 3. After 60 h of the reaction, H-ZSM-5 300 showed the smallest amount of coke.…”

“…In Figure 5, two reduction peaks are observed for Ga-NaY and CaGa-NaY, and only one reduction peak is observed for Mg, Sr, and Ba modified Ga-NaY. The two reduction peaks are attributed to the reduction of Ga 3+ to Ga 2+ and Ga 1+ [42]. In the ODH reaction, Ga 1+ is more active then Ga 2+ , [41][42][43][44] hence the single reduction peak for MgGa-NaY, BaGa-NaY, and SrGa-NaY is assigned to the reduction of Ga 3+ to Ga 2+ since these three catalysts were found to be less active than the other two catalysts with two reduction peaks.…”

“…Numerous novel catalyst systems such as Zn, Sn, Co, Ga and carbon based catalysts have been reported for catalyzing PDH,,,,,,,, which are void of shortcomings typical of commercial CrO x and Pt based catalysts. Among them, Zn based materials are found to be one of the most promising catalysts due to the low price, environmental‐friendly‐ness and high catalytic performance in PDH ,,.…”
