“…S3). The degradation of parent CQP ( m / z = 320.19) mainly proceeded from the substituents of the side chain, in which there are two primary pathways for CQP degradation [ 50 , 51 ]. Specifically, under the action of active species (·O 2 − and ·OH), CQP could first disconnect the carbon nitrogen bond on the side chain to form B ( m / z : 179.04), C ( m / z : 181.03) and D ( m / z : 124.04), respectively.…”

“…For all these batch tests, the air was supplied to the reactors at a flow rate of up to 100 mL/min using air pumps. The initial concentration of the electrolyte (Na 2 SO 4 ) was 50 mM, while that of CLQ was 5 mg/L which was to mimic the CLQ level present in the wastewater produced from the mass production of CLQ and was already applied in previous studies. , The results of preliminary experiments (data not shown) revealed that operating EF-FeS 2 /GF at the initial pH of 3.0 resulted in the sustained solution pH and the highest CLQ removal as compared with pH of 7.0 and 12.0. Therefore, the solution pH was adjusted to 3.0 at the beginning of each batch test with 0.05 M H 2 SO 4 and monitored by a portable pH meter (Mettler Toledo Instruments (Shanghai) Co., Ltd).…”

“…•− (E = 2.5-3.1 V) also degrades CQ under acidic conditions [23]. Similarly, biomass carbon-based catalysts also effi ciently degrade CQ in a wide pH range (3-11) [24,25], and the biochar-supported red mud catalyst (RM-BC) activated persulfate process degrades CQ phosphate, HCQ sulfate, and other COVID-19 drugs [26]. Specialized activated carbon sorbents manufactured from palm kernel (Elaeis guineensis) [27] and plantain peel-activated carbon-supported zinc oxide (PPAC-ZnO) [28] possess CQ adsorption capacity.…”
