Catalytic Transfer Vinylation of Alcohols

Abstract

This review focuses on summarising the studies on transition metal catalysed transfer vinylation of alcohols using vinyl ethers and vinyl acetate as vinylating agents. Mercury, palladium, iridium and gold catalysts are discussed herein. Selected examples from publications and patents are given for the purpose of analysing functional group tolerance towards the methodology. In addition, mechanistic pathways are described.
