“…Rodriguez et al [51] found an approximate 30% increase in the CMC value in 20% EG than in pure water. Bakshi et al [29][30][31][32][33][34]55] also reported similar results. Callaghan et al [56,57] found a 70% increase in the CMC for cetylpyridinium chloride in a 20% (w/w) EG-water mixture.…”

“…However, as far as hydrophilicity is concerned, the structural configuration of the ionic head group induces a significant effect on the micelle formation process. In this context, if we compare the critical micelle concentration (cmc) of TTAB (cmc = 37.9 × 10 −4 ) [4] and TTPB (cmc = 9.1 × 10 −4 ) [5] with identical hydrophobic tails and counterions at 25 • C, one would observe that the cmc of TTAB is more than threefold higher than that of TTPB. Additional hydrophobicity provided by three phenyl rings and their screening effect on the electropositive center in the latter case can be attributed to the cmc being lower than in TTAB.…”

“…Bakshi et al [53][54][55][56][57][58] investigated on aqueous solution behaviour of binary mixture involving C n TPPBr and alkyltrimethylammonium bromide (C n TAB, n = 14,16) in aqueous solutions in presence of ␤-cyclodextrin [53] and alkoxyethanol [54]. In presence of aqueous polyvinyl pyrrolidone (PVP), C 14 TAB + C 14 TPPBr binary mixture depicts an unfavourable packing arrangement influenced by bulky head of C 14 TPPBr resulting in antagonistic behaviour [55].…”
