Abstract

A b s t r a c t -The c a t i o n i c p o l y m e r i z a t i o n of s t r o n g +donor monomers has been i n v e s t i g a t e d , where i n i t i a t i o n t a k e s p l a c e with triphenylmethylium p i c r a t e and p i c r i o a c i d , r e s p e c t i v e l y . I n t h e c a s e of p-methoxystyrene t h e polym e r i z a t i o n runs via aggregated s p e o i e s , where monomer and p i c r i c a c i d s t a b i l i z e s t h e p r o p a g a t i n g i n t e r m e d i a t e s t a t e .
