CBCT Images of Anatomic Landmarks in Maxillofacial Region

Abstract: ÖZET Maksillofasiyal bölgedeki anatomik noktaların CBCT görüntüleriDiş hekimliği radyolojisinde konvansiyonel çekim teknikleri baş ve boyun bölgesinde üç boyutlu kompleks yapıların sadece iki boyutlu görüntülenmesine olanak verir. Show more

“…8 It is also used to evaluate the pathologies in relation to airways. 9 However poor soft-tissue contrast, beam hardening and scatter from dental materials are drawbacks. 2 In this modern era, CBCT is widely used in dentistry to enhance radiographic and diagnostic information which will improve the clinical practice and quality of dental care.…”

“…Additionally, the routine use of dental tomography has also become widespread in dentistry. The radiation dose of a cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT) is significantly higher than the traditional dental radiography techniques (4). CBCT should not be routinely used to detect caries, periodontal diseases, and periapical pathology, and with the aim of routine orthodontic diagnosis (5,6).…”

“…So; indications for 3D imaging has started to find its place in dentistry in the last several decades for better visualization of maxillofaical region. 3 CBCT imaging provides 3D volumetric data construction of dental and associated maxillofacial structures with high isotropic spatial resolution and high dimensional accuracy. 4 Recent advances in CBCT technology have allowed its commercial production and practical application in up-to-date patient care and dental education environment.…”
