Cd4+, Cd8+, Cd3+ Cell Counts And Cd4+/cd8+ Ratio Among Patients With Mycobacterial Diseases (leprosy, Tuberculosis), Hiv Infections, And Normal Healthy Adults: A Comparative Analysis Of Studies In Different Regions Of India

Abstract: In this study, we estimated the CD4+, CD8+, CD3+ cell counts and the CD4/CD8 ratio among normal healthy controls (adults and children), leprosy patients (without any complications and during reactional states), TB patients (with and without HIV), and HIV-positive patients (early infection and full-blown AIDS) and correlated the changes with disease progression. In our study, it was observed that among adults, CD4+ cell counts ranged from 518-1098, CD8+ from 312-952, whereas CD4/CD8 ratio from 0.75-2.30. Among … Show more

“…Many researchers have reported that the ratio of CD4 + /CD8 + cells is indicative of the general immune system status5556. Our data indicated that the ratio of CD4 + /CD8 + cells did not markedly change in the spleens of the NC8-pSIP409-NP-M1-Ctrlpep group and the NC8-pSIP409-NP-M1-DCpep group.…”

“…This ratio increased in those patients who had an ENL recurrence (87). An increased CD4 + /CD8 + ratio in ENL patients was reported by several subsequent studies (87–92). In acute SLE, it has been suggested that the failure of CD8 + T-cell activity could lead to increased IgG production and to the subsequent formation of ICs (93).…”

“…The CD4/CD8 T‐cell ratio is an important marker of many human diseases most prominently human immunodeficiency virus infection, but also idiopathic aplastic anemia, leprosy, sarcoidosis, and others with an inverted ratio correlating to increased inflammation 27, 28, 29, 30. In normal fetuses, the CD4/CD4 ratio is comparable to adults, while in the cord blood of babies affected by fetal growth restriction, higher CD4/CD8 ratios have been observed 21, 31.…”
