“…The drug-release results were as follows: pH 3.0 > 5.8 > 7.0, with the highest amount being released at pH = 3.0 (34.3 mg g −1 ). Cefoperazone sodiuma popular antibiotic 247,248 was also investigated as an example drug-model. The absorbance spectra of the solution containing cefoperazone alongside the synthetic peptide or La 3+ ions (or both) closely resembled the absorbance profile of the free-drug.…”

“…In reviewing the clinical experience in other countries, Gordon and Phyfferoen reported a 94% satisfactory clinical response rate and an 89% bacteriological eradication rate in 571 cases of urinary tract infection. 81 File and Tan have summarized the results of comparative and noncomparative clinical trials conducted in the United States. 106 Over 200 patients with acute urinary tract infections have been enrolled in these trials.…”

“…In reviewing clinical trials in Europe, Latin America, and Australia, Gordon and Phyfferoen reported that cefoperazone therapy had been evaluated in 417 children, ranging in age from birth to 14 years. 81 Infections included bronchitis, pertussis, enteritis, biliary tract infection, urinary tract infection, septicemia, and ear, nose and throat infection. Cefoperazone therapy was judged to be clinically effective in 89% of these children, and bacteriological cure was achieved in 92%.…”

“…Clinical studies proved cefoperazone's efficiency in 92% of lower respiratory tract infections, 81% of urinary tract infections, 98% of gynecological infections, and 90% of a mixture of intra-abdominal, wound, and soft tissue infections. The clinical response was satisfactory in over 90% of infections with organisms normally susceptible to cephalosporins [6]. It acts by inhibiting the biosynthesis of cell wall mucopeptide, the third and last stage of bacterial cell wall synthesis.…”
